"A Lesson in Collaboration"

October 2011

Philadelphia photographer, Krysta Knaster, and I combined our artistic efforts for Masthead Print Studio's A Lesson in Collaboration: Part II in October.  Krysta transferred microscopic images of diseases onto canvas, sewing four beautiful disease patterns together in classic quilt inspired pattern (shown above).  I then transferred the same 10x magnification microscopic images onto cork and reinterpreted the same diseases magnified 40x using materials such as yarn, nail, sea sponges and peppercorns displayed in shadowbox frames that remind me of sterile, square Petri dishes.  Photos of my finished works can be found here.
